Often poigniant and insightful, never dull, sometimes unnerving but always reflecting his unique sense of humour, this is a collection of those phrases. Doug's classic response to "How's it going?" “closer than a cat's two holes” – re: fine measurement with a tape. “time to drop the kids at the pool” – ...shortly after the morning walk and cup of coffee. “TOOOOO much fun!!!” – ... always with a big smile, said while taking in his rich life. “Sleep like a stick.” “We're quite the pair of book-ends...” – usually preceded by some kind of 'bone-head' move / comment by himself and one or more of his pals... “A feller can't complain” “He has no bad habits... ... except lying” “I wonder what the poor folks are doing” – generally said while in a nice part of the world “I'd rather be at the Bull River Inn drinking beer and watching soaps” -- generally said while floating on a nice stretch of river “we're off... ... like newly wed's pajamas” “we're off... ... like a rabbi's foreskin” “we're off... ... like a new bride's panties” “Pesky Wench#?????” “Exaaaactly” – Doug's way of agreeing. “you tear me” – Dooger's way of saying "you crack me up" tear as in crying. “.....watch out for the steamer!” – not a steam engine or ship but doggy-doo, generally Tunook's. “Douglas-fur.” – referring to his furriness. “WHAT a hammer-head...” – usually preceded by some kind of 'bone-head' move/comment by himself... “Crikey!” “There's nothing stopping us but fear and common sense.” “We're a suffering bunch.” “Greetings!” “I'll give you a half hour to cut that out.” “psst, putcher dickaway.” – usually said while whizzing off the deck at the end of the day. “I'm not as young as I was five years ago....” “It's the most I can do.” “The pleasure was all yours.” “Fill your boots!” “How do you like me so far?”
